About Narrative Advising

At Narrative Advising, it's just the two of us. With over 20 years of experience combined, we help guide ambitious students through the complexities of graduate, medical, and professional school admissions. Our partnership with clients is built on two things: expertise and a commitment to their growth and success.

We work directly with every client, combining our experience as educators, researchers, and storytellers to provide a personalized roadmap through the admissions process. Our guidance is tailored to help you submit the strongest application possible and position yourself for programs where you can truly thrive.

Together, we help you uncover the story only you can tell, refine your messaging, and craft an application that communicates your experiences, values, and goals with confidence.

Our Story

Todd Faubion founded Narrative Advising in 2013, recognizing that the graduate admissions advising space was often too formulaic—lacking what matters most: a personal, nuanced narrative that resonates with admissions committees.

Having taught, advised, and administered programs at an R1 institution, Todd knew that when two applicants are equally qualified, the one with the more compelling story will always win admission.

That insight became the foundation of Narrative Advising. Today, we continue to help clients tell their stories powerfully. With the addition of Nico Flint, our work has evolved into a collaborative, deeply personalized advising experience.

The journey to graduate school requires a lot of hard work—but it doesn't have to involve stress or ambiguity. We believe the process should feel empowering and fully your own, a philosophy that continues to guide everything we do.

Our Philosophy

Strong applications aren’t built from templates—they grow from clarity, reflection, and a well-crafted narrative. We believe the most compelling applicants are those who understand their own story and can communicate it with purpose.
